Sleek & Williamson Insurance | Disaster Preparedness

Fortunately, our area has not seen too many major disasters. If you recall, though, we had a significant flood that destroyed many homes and even had some without clean water for several days. Even though we do not see this happening often, it is still important to be prepared in the event of an emergency or disaster. Here are some of the items you should have in your survival kit:

  • Water
  • Ready to eat food
  • First Aid kit
  • Copy of important documents (including your Sleek & Williamson Insurance policies)
  • Warm clothes
  • Disposable camera to take pictures of damages
  • Blankets and sleeping bags
  • If you have small children: diapers and formula or baby food
  • Pet food
  • Any medications that may be needed
  • Flashlights
  • Battery operated radio
  • Pocket knife, can opener and other basic tools.
  • Emergency cash. If power goes out, ATM’s will be down.

Keep your emergency items stored in an accessible place in air-tight, water proof containers. Hopefully, you will never need to use your survival kit, but you will be glad you put it together if something unfortunate does occur in our area.
